Embracing Gene Testing and Gender Neutrality
I love Gen Z, it’s a fun audacious generation, part of it because it has my generation Millennials as parents. We are the generation that wanted to break free from stereotypes and now raising a generation that will be even freer than us.
As parents and future parents, Millennials dove into looking to free their kids from all the ways our parents raised us. If your parents wanted to impose their definition of happiness and success for you to follow their metric, mental maps. “You are doing this in the wrong way if you want to be successful” At some point, you would try the opposite way. The way of thinking that there is only one path no longer works.
Embrace the change and get used to the new millennial parenting
Our generation has broken all paths, explore our own, traveled the world that was before divided by limits that previous generations did.
We tested different paths because we knew that the wrong path can lead to the right place. That broken hearts meant the start of new love stories. And failed dreams meant there were other ways to create our success.
We work in a territory where the geographical limits don’t exist. The internet. We are globalized, consciously aware, and now this generation that are becoming parents.
We are the parents of the new world.
Gene Testing for Kids
My best friend is pregnant and the difference between now and then is that her doctor does a gene test for her kid. They found a slight possibility of a genetic syndrome. Something in the past, you wouldn’t be able to know until the kid is well developed.
We could see this as two options. Option one prefers not to know and remind in the dark or approach it as my friend. The information allows her to look for the best options and prepare in advance. Gene testing in babies is here and it’s for our best.
Gender Neutral Babies
Gender-neutral I saw a quote on social media saying “The Gender Reveal is actually a genital reveal”. And it’s so true. Read more on Why I Don’t Believe in Gender Anymore.
More and more Millenial parents are looking for gender-neutral clothes. We are letting our kids decide on their own gender and letting them be free to express who they are. Don’t force them into typical stereotypes and let them choose.
The Millenial way of parenting is the one that will allow the future generation to be free to be who they are. The job as a parent is not to raise kids to be a copy of themselves but to find their unique contribution and potential what they are already good at.
